Whooping Cough Hits San Diego
Just this week alone at three new cases of whooping cough had been reported in San Diego County according to public health officials. It is being recommended to all parents that they ensure their children have been immunized before starting this new school year.
The state of California has been hit with an epidemic of whooping cough this year. California has reported 3331 cases as of Tuesday, including eight infant deaths. One of the deaths was a one month old boy in San Diego.
San Diego County alone has reported 412 cases of whooping cough according to the county health and human services agency in San Diego.
San Diego massage therapist and medical treatment professional advised that whooping cough is a highly contagious respiratory ailment that is often mistaken for a common cold in the early stages, but later leads to severe and very heavy coughing attacks that are damaging to the lungs.
Health officials are urging anyone with babies to have their children vaccinated immediately as infants are at the greatest risk for serious illness or death due to whooping cough.
